About Us

Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM), established in 2009, is imparting Quality Education at doorstep. AWKUM offers admission in 30 disciplines, in Arts and Humanities, Social, Basic and Applied Sciences at Undergraduate, Graduate and Postgraduate levels.

Presently, more than 13000 students are enrolled in various programmes. Among the highly qualified faculty, 193 are Ph.D. Under the largest HRD programme in the country, 97 faculty are perusing their Ph.D studies in various technologically advanced countries of the world and 68 faculty are studying in different universities of the country. Hence, it is considered to be the fastest growing university in the country.
The newly constructed, Garden Campus of the university is spread over on more than 2000 Kanals of land having state of the art infrastructure, well equipped laboratories, one of the biggest libraries of the region, computer labs, three hostels with the capacity of 1500 students, two on campus colleges, sports complex and many other facilities. Classes in the campus have already been started.


Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan provides hostel facility to both girls and boys in the following campuses:
Boys: Hostel facility is available for boys at Garden, Buner and Timergara Campuses.
Girls: Hostel facility is available for girls at the Main Campus, Buner Campus and Bacha Khan Campus Chitral.
Staff Hostel: Hostel facility is available at Main Campus, Garden Campus, Buner Campus, Timergara Campus and Bacha Khan Campus Chitral.


Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan has the largest transport fleet to cater to the needs of students and staff. Pick and drop facilities for students and staff at all Campuses in Mardan are available from all the major and small towns including Fazli Abad,Takht Bhai, Sher Garh, Lund Khwar, Risalpur, Nowshera, Manga, Charsadda, Peshawar, Katlang, Mian Khan, Gaddar, Sawal Dher, Bakhshali, Gujrat, Swabi, Ghari Kapoora,Toru, Mayar, Nawi Kali and Local Mardan.
In Shaheed Rashid Hussain Campus Pabbi pick and drop, facility is available for Peshawar, Jehangira, Nowshera, Akora Khattak, Mardan.

In Timargara Campus pick and drop facility is available for Timargara, Talash, Sarai, Nasafa, Ouch and Gul Abad.
In Buner Campus pick and drop facility is available for Karapa, DHQ Hospital, Daggar, Elai, Anghapur, Torwarsak and Jowar and in Bacha Khan Campus Chitral pick and drop facility is available for Singoor, Balach, Danin, Chew Pul, MulDeh, Sabzi Mandi,Hone, Jughur, JutiLasht and Ayun.


Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan has a comprehensive scholarship programme for providing financial assistance to meritorious and financially constrained students. The university's own source scholarships and scholarships for position holders are funded by university employees by contributing one day salary. The details of scholarships are as under:

AWKUM, University Own Source (Fund) Scholarships:
University Own Source Scholarship programme has been providing need based scholarships to Undergraduate and Graduate students since February 2010.

Scholarships for Position Holders:
University offers merit scholarships for position holders.

HEC Need Based Scholarships:
Higher Education Commission offers HEC Need based Scholarships to deserving students for the entire four years of
Undergraduate Programme.

MORA Scholarships:
These scholarships are provided to needy and poor students of AWKUM from Zakat Funds by Ministry of Religious Affairs through District Zakat and Usher Offices.

The "Prime Minister's Tuition Fee Reimbursement Scheme" Scholarships:
Government of Pakistan offers these scholarships to students from Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Shangla, Buner, Swat, Dir Upper, Dir Lower, Malakand, Kohistan and FATA region studying at AWKUM, the programme covers tuition fee for the entire academic programme at Graduate and Postgraduate levels.

Frontier Education Foundation Scholarships:
Frontier Education Foundation provides scholarships to the poor and talented students of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Minority Scholarships:
These scholarships aim to support the minority students with highest academic potential and strong motivation to bring progress to their families and communities.

Siblings Fee Concession Scholarships:
If more than one brother/sister is enrolled, the younger brother/sister will get half fee concession. The concession granted shall only be in tuition fee.

National Bank of Pakistan Student Loan Scheme:
Financial Assistance is extended by providing interest free loans to the needy students who are financially constrained in their pursuit of Higher Education. The Graduate and Postgraduate students can benefit from this scheme.
